Hello Fashionista's!!
It's Friday again and you know what that means, health and body advice. This Friday I am going to talk about a topic that has become very popular lately, Vegetarianism! To start off, I have been a vegetarian for 2 and a half years and it's the best decision I've ever made. A lot of people think being a vegetarian is hard, but actually its not.

The Benefits
Why being a vegetarian is healthier for you? Done right a vegetarian diets are low in fat and high in vitamins. How being a vegetarian is better for the environment? Raising cows on large farms and trucking meat to faraway stores causes a lot of pollution. How being a vegetarian is kinder to animals? Big farms and feedlots keep animals in caged or overcrowded conditions. How being a vegetarian helps you? Being a vegetarian can save you money, since animals products are generally more expensive than their vegetarian alternatives. Also its been proven that vegetarians are healthier, weigh less, live longer and are less prone to the top diseases in America (obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, etc). *
The Choices
Choosing food to eat is the best part of being a vegetarian. There are so many yummy options. Besides the basic things like pastas, noodles, rice and salads; there are many other choices out there. There's lot's of meatless products at your local grocery store from yummy Boca varities to Morning Star and Amy's. You can find meatless burgers, faux chicken, meatless crumbles, faux hot dogs, etc. There is also tofu which is so tasty, ecspecially marianated in teriaki sauce, baked in the oven and served over brown rice with broccoli. You can create different variations of veggie stir-fry and experiment with your own creations. Also hummus is a yummy snack with pita chips, carrots or pretzels! Hummus is my new favorite food. Another one of my favorites is vegetarian lasagna. Restrauants and grocery strores keep getting in new options for vegetarians, so are choices are endless.

One thing to remember...
Always make sure you get all your nutrients in each day. Most aren't too hard, if you still have dairy products like me. I still have milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream. (Vegans don't include these.) But some things to watch out for are protein, B12, and fiber. Fiber is listed becasue vegetarians usually get too much from grains, veggies, etc fiber is one thing to make sure you don't get too much of. B12 won't be a problem if you have dairy. Protein can be included with veggie burgers and dairy. Also like anyone make sure you do exercise and get outside becasue everyone needs a little (at lest 30 minutes) of activity in their day.
